Caleb Gafrarar Earns Podium Finish on the Streets of Toronto

Toronto, Canada (Wednesday, July 23, 2025) – Rising star Caleb Gafrarar returned to international competition this past weekend, taking on the demanding 11-turn, 1.786-mile temporary street circuit at Toronto’s Exhibition Place. Known for its unforgiving layout and intense racing, the event drew more than 150,000 fans and delivered plenty of action—including a strong rebound and a podium finish for Gafrarar.

Arriving midweek, Gafrarar took time to study the city and circuit before joining his team for the Thursday track walk, analyzing the course’s technical sections and elevation changes firsthand. On Friday, Gafrarar showed immediate speed, topping the charts in practice with a blistering lap of 1:13.1502. Unfortunately, a red flag during the 20-minute qualifying session left limited green-flag time, and he would line up P4 for the opening race.

Saturday brought another round of qualifying and the first race of the weekend. Despite a strong start, qualifying was again disrupted—three red flags cut the session short, including one just as Gafrarar’s fresh Continental tires were up to pace. He would again start from fourth.

Race 1 began with high hopes, especially after a mechanical issue for a front-row competitor gave Gafrarar a clear lane. But after being shuffled back on the opening lap, he had to fight his way forward. By lap 3, he was back into fourth and closing in on the leaders. Just as he narrowed the gap, mechanical trouble struck on lap 7. Gafrarar limped the car back to pit lane, and while the team worked hard to fix the issue, the race was over. A later inspection revealed a loose ignition wire—a frustrating but fixable problem.

Sunday morning brought new opportunities—and new challenges. Overnight rain had left the track wet, making for a slick start. Undeterred, Gafrarar launched from fourth and immediately went on the offensive. By lap 2, a bold move in turn 6 secured his hold on P4. After a brief caution, he charged ahead on lap 7, battling side by side into turn 6 to take third. Another caution on lap 9 set up a final push—Gafrarar seized second place in turn 3 and began chasing down the leader. Although he matched the leader’s pace, the race stayed green to the finish, and Gafrarar crossed the line in a hard-fought second place.

After celebrating on the podium, Gafrarar reflected on the weekend:
“Today was a great rebound for the team. The mechanical failure yesterday was no one’s fault, so we were determined to come back strong. Huge thanks to everyone at Pabst Racing—Augie, Miles, Steve, Bob, Luke—and to Jason for spotting. We’ve got three races left, and I’m ready to keep this momentum going.”
