With a race win in Europe already on his resume this season, American Caleb Gafrarar is heading back overseas for another opportunity. Set to compete at The Peter Rogers Trophy with Dreamair Aviation, Gafrarar will take on the legendary Brands Hatch Circuit in the United Formula Ford championship, racing with Ammonite Motorsports.
“I am anxious and excited to get back to the UK for more racing, especially at Brands Hatch, a track that is famous for a lot of different reasons,” explained Gafrarar. “Now that I’m familiar with the Ammonite Motorsports program and the style of racing in Europe, I feel confident that we can have even greater success in just my second trip to the UK.”
The purest form of open wheel motorsport, Formula Ford is where many racing legends started their careers, including Ayrton Senna, James Hunt, Jenson Button, Damon Hill, and Michael Schumacher.
Gafrarar earned a victory at Lydden Hill in his inaugural race in the series with the Ammonite Motorsports team earlier this season, to go along with countless karting wins and championships, as well as Skip Barber Racing Series formula car race wins. Gafrarar is looking to kickstart his open-wheel racing career.
Gafrarar continued, “I feel that I have performed very well in the limited time that I have had in open-wheel cars. We have a slightly different strategy than most but manage to get the results. I would really like to enter a ladder series in either Europe or North America but want to hone my race craft in Formula Ford first to make sure that I’m ready. I am looking at all available opportunities to progress my open-wheel career.”
Fresh off two pole positions, including a track record, and a national class win this past weekend at the SuperKarts! USA SummerNationals, Caleb Gafrarar is set to travel to the UK tomorrow for a test at Donnington Park with Ammonite Motorsports before heading to Brands Hatch for racing action Friday and Saturday. Caleb would like to thank Ammonite Motorsports, Bell Helmets, Molecule, Racing Electronics, and Circle K for their continued support.
